To Forget Is To Lose
May 25, 2024
away from the river
there I was
a part of my identity missing
feeling blank and lost
away from the forest
away from my home
away from all that was familiar
it was hard to not feel alone
a way to forget
to take away our pride
and thus destroying us
our basic rights denied
forever to have
this unhealable wound
unable to forget
the past that has me consumed
forgive and forget
always hand in hand
while one brings closure
the other leads people to misunderstand
to reconcile with the past
is to acknowledge our Nations
and to forgive but not forget
the ever existing hurt present in our generations
